The most important thing before purchasing a trailer is understanding your vehicle’s towing capacity. The best way to do this is to first look in your vehicle’s owner manual.

If you have purchased a used vehicle that did not come with an owner’s manual, you can then check your Compliance Certification Label. The compliance certification label can typically be found near your vehicle door or on the driver door sill. If you find it to be ineligible, you can also check online to get an approximate tow rating for your vehicle.
